Geektastic Wednesday: Uncommon Goods

Sorry this isn't being posted on a Tuesday. Sadly, I wasn't feeling quite well yesterday, so I decided to give myself that day to just rest. So, instead of naming it "Geektastic Tuesday," I rolled with the punches and called it what it is now. Wednesday. Welcome to the one and only (time): Geektastic Wednesday!

Unique is fun, isn't it? I mean, there are times when I just want to buy a gift for someone that no one else would ever think of. I like the idea of gifting something totally "green," or something that will make the gift receiver go "I LOVE YOU TO DEATH!!!!" (Maybe not that much...)
Hello, Thumb? Yes, this is Pinky.
I've always loved going to Uncommon Goods to see what new stuff they have, or what's on sale. I swear, my wishlist is one thousand miles long (slightly exaggerating here.) They have everything from green items to neat little terrariums. (I will own a terrarium one day. Yes I will!)

I use my current phone as an alarm clock. I think I've owned one real alarm clock in my whole life. I've always been afraid that one morning I just might throw it against the wall, and that would be the end of my alarm clock. Now a talking alarm clock rather than a jarring one? I will keep safe from harm!

Steampunk lovers and ray gun lovers, I've got the perfect gift for you! You don't mind that it's a wee bit expensive, do ya? Of course not!

Aren't typewriters awesome? No matter how old they are, nothing says "Vintage Neato" like an antique typewriter. I am completely jealous of those who have one. Well, since I'll never come close to owning one of those beauts, I will just have to play around with this while dreaming of writing a book outside in the 1800s.

Wizard of Oz-esque Nail Fun

I don't remember my first time watching The Wizard of Oz. I just remember that I thought Dorothy and her friends were awesome. The wicked witch scared the milk and cookies out of me. She was after those ruby red slippers that looks FABULOUS on Dorothy's feet.
Sparkles!
I was inspired by those beauties to come up with my own version for my nails. I like the look of glitter as it hits the light. Depending on how much you put on depends on how sparkly it will appear. (And just like Edward from those Twilight series, it'll even sparkle in the sunlight.)

Nail Polish Needed

  1. Make sure your nails are clean of any residing nail polish/debris. This will make the base coat stick a lot easier.
  2. Add the base coat, and allow it to completely dry. We are protecting the nails from any harm the glitter may do.
  3. Grab the St James nail polish and add one coat. Allow it to dry.
  4. Add another coat of St James. The 2 coats will make the color a little darker, but that's what will make the glitter stand out. Let it dry (good idea, right?)
  5. Grab the Be-Claus I Said So and add one coat. This takes a while to dry, so make sure you aren't doing anything while it dries.
  6. After it's dried, add another coat. The better coverage of the glitter nail polish, the better it will look. And like the past 5, dry.

If you feel like you need to add a clear top coat on top, go ahead. I didn't because I didn't have any at the time.

I know The Wizard of Oz isn't geeky, but gosh darnit, it sure is pretty!

(Wee little note: The camera does not show just how "ruby reddish" it really is. And please excuse my poor nail polish painting.)

Unique iPhone Cases

Confession: I love technology. I love learning about it. I love reading about what's new in that world. So it became no surprise when I was trying to fall asleep last night, only to be hit in the head with a thought, "Hey! Maybe those with an iPhone would love to accessorize it with a unique case." You know we're all about uniqueness (I'm pretty sure that isn't a real word) here at The Geeky Nutcase.

I don't know why, but I find monkeys incredibly cute. I just want to cuddle with each and every one- hoping that their animal instincts to attack anyone not of their own comes out. Luckily, I won't have that problem with this one.

Calling all Batman lovers! I repeat, calling all Batman lovers! Pretend you're awesome with this Batman case with ear buds.
Na na na na na na na na na BATMAN! (I apologize for amount of na nas)

This doesn't need an explanation, does it?

There are mucho talented people out there that have the ability to create whatever they want. Have you ever just wanted to crawl around in someone's head to see where their inspiration comes from? Or even their talent? I've always been jealous of those that could paint a person without using a curlique for a nose, or those who could sculpt anything from clay without it looking like a glob of wrong.

So, if anyone will give me access to their brains, I promise I won't leave with anything!

Sunday Funny: Where no man has gone before....

Or in this case: Where no feline has gone before....
